Streetbound, the city-side version of the much-loved Southbound festival is hitting the Rosie backyard this Sunday! Special guest DJ Berryl Streep (Scarlett Stevens from San Cisco), Koi Child DJs, Pilerats and Southbound DJs will be on the decks playing your fave anthems under the sun from 1pm!
We caught up for a little chat with Scarlett to get the lowdown on her favourite records of 2016, which tunes make for the best vibe lifters and what it was like filming the new vid for San Cisco’s ‘SloMo’.
Rosie: Hey Scarlett! How’s your day been?
Scarlett: It’s been divine, really enjoying the weather in Perth right now.
Rosie: We looove San Cisco’s brand new vid for SloMo! What was channelling your inner disco queen like?
Scarlett: It was so much fun but it definitely took its toll on my feet (due to the fact my platforms were about 2 sizes too small). Learning the choreography and dressing everyone up was my favourite part of the clip for ‘SloMo’.
Rosie: What have been some of your fave records released this year?
A Seat at the Table – Solange
Views – Drake
Soft Hair – Soft Hair
Untitled Unmastered – Kendrick Lamar
Rosie: What’s the most embarrassing record you own?
Scarlett: Nothing comes to mind… I’m all about the guilty pleasures when it comes to music.
Rosie: What are some of your favourite tunes to play for lifting the vibe of a room?
Scarlett: Scribe ‘Not Many’, Jeremih ‘Oui’, Isley Brothers ‘Who’s That Lady’.
Rosie: What’s the funniest/craziest thing that’s happened during one of your DJ sets?
Scarlett: Some drunk dude threatening to unplug the turntables/CDJs because I wouldn’t take his song request.
Rosie: What do you love about DJing?
Scarlett: Making people dance!
Rosie: How would you recommend we prep for a Beryl Streep party set at Streetbound?
Scarlett: No prep needed, just bring your dancing shoes.
Tickets to Streetbound are just $5 + bf, still available here. Catch you this Sunday in the backyard!
