An alternate universe where poetry is just as cool as music…

Dirtymouth keeps the poetry party pumping into August with bombastic honesty from Perth Slam favourite NIEL SMITH, stark and contemplative poetics on humanity and de-colonisation from NADIA RHOOK (freshly over from Melbourne!), dreamy guitar folk from FRAEYA, and a live set from untamed Freo poet rockers GASOLINE. Stuff to sit and listen to, stuff to stand up and dance to. Your usual host Laundry Man will be back in the drivers seat full of poems and stories from over east.

PLUS there’s a chance for YOU to wash your mouth out on the OPEN MIC!

In the 90’s, a gig called ‘Openmouth’ pioneered spoken word and performance poetry in Perth. In the 00’s – a gig called ‘Cottenmouth’ was a hub for Perth’s emerging poets and artists of all sorts from Thomás Ford to Amber Fresh. Now in 2018, Perth Slam’s maverick gig-wizard Laundry Man brings you Dirtymouth – something for your heart, your teeth, your feet – a monthly showcase of live music and spoken word at the Four5Nine Bar
