This evening sees the inaugural Women Words, Wine in Four5Nine. This week the club gulp the novel world that is The Woman Destroyed by Simone De Beauvior.
“What an odd thing a diary is: the things you omit are more important than those you put in.” How to talk about women’s rights without thinking about Simone de Beauvoir? Since the publication in 1949 of her essay The Second Sex, she is considered to be figureheads of the feminist mouvement. With The Woman Destroyed, she explores the everyday life struggles of three women at three different stage of their life: young adult, middle age women and mature women. Between 2 glasses of wine and some appetizers, we will be discussing: The place of women in the society in western cultures in the 1950s. The relevancy of this book for today society. The generational gap and its pertinence into the women’s fight. And everything you would like to add.
